Dave MacDonald Haltemprice 10K – 25 October 2020 8:30am

Welcome to the 2020 Dave MacDonald Haltemprice 10K.  This year’s 34th running of the race, named in honour of its founder, Dave MacDonald of Haltemprice RRC, is brought to you by LKR Events in collaboration with Kingston upon Hull AC.

We are delighted to be in a position to hold this well established race and are grateful to the relevant authorities for their assistance and support in enabling us to go ahead.  Entries are now open. At £15 for UKA runners and £17 for non affiliated runners.  A cut off time of 1 hour and 30 minutes is in place.  More details about arrangements to make us covid compliant are below.

The entry fees have had to be increased to cover the additional costs associated with ensuring the event is complaint with the relevant government and UKA guidelines. This will be the first road race in East Riding if Yorkshire and Kingston of Hull since the lockdown in March.  Therefore please help us make the event a safe but successful one.

Making the race covid-19 safe

Route changes

The move will be moved to Broadley Avenue and head out using Woodland Drive, Mill Lane, Easenby Avenue and Valley Drive and then follow the traditional route but will go clockwise around Swanland.  This enables a separate start and finish and also avoids ongoing road works on the traditional route.

Note runners are NOT to head to the start line until directed.

Social Distancing

In order to maintain social distancing, a one way system will follow from the car parking to the start and runners will be required to follow this.  Runners will be started in 5 second intervals 3 at a time and called forward in batches by race number.  These will be allocated based on your predicted finish time and minimises overtaking on the course.

Further details will be in our pre race instructions but anyone not complying with the guidelines will be disqualified from the race.  Ample signage and marshalls will be around to enable this to run smoothly so that safety of everyone and the event is not compromised.

Spectators

We would ask you not to bring spectators this year and there will be a controlled area around the finish in particular.

Toilets

Haltemprice Leisure centre cannot host us under the current arrangements and therefore portable toilets will be in the assembly area with a staff member on hand to ensure they are sanitised regularly.

Prizes and the mugs!

We will still have the mugs for you as your race momento.  The event will still have the full range of prizes but there will not be prize giving afterwards.  Where possible the top 3 prizes will be available on the day and all vet and junior categories will be sent by post/delivered afterwards.

Drink Station

Under the current UKA guidelines no drink station will be on the route with unopened bottled water available after crossing the finish line.

Race Packs and final instructions

Race number and timing chips will be dispatched one week before the race and transfers will close the day before.  There will be a strict no late entries or transfers policy this year in order to enable the staggered start to work effectively. Final race instructions will be sent by email the same weekend.

What happens if government restrictions change before the event or there is a local lockdown?

We are very aware that restrictions related to the current coronavirus pandemic can change and we will continue to monitor these in the build up to the event. In the event we have no choice but to cancel the event all runners will be transferred to a new date or, if we can not reschedule to the 2021 race with no further charges.

If any entrant is from an area under a local lockdown outside of East Riding and Kingston upon Hull we reserve the right to withdraw you from the race and offer a refund or transfer to the 2021 race.

Anyone who withdraws of their own choice will not be eligible for a refund but can transfer their entry up to Saturday 17 October.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to this year’s event but please help us deliver it safely to enable confidence that other races can go ahead in the area

Thank you, Lucas Meagor Race Director
